BCG Study: Austria Digital Gov Satisfaction Lags

A Boston Consulting Group survey reveals 40% of Austrians report problem-free digital government use, trailing the 42% global average.

The Digital Government Citizen Survey 2026, conducted by Boston Consulting Group between February and April 2026, surveyed 48,500 people across 44 countries. In Austria, where 509 people participated with a five percent margin of error, only 40 percent reported problem-free use of digital public services, slightly below the 42 percent global average. Over the past decade, global satisfaction with digital government services has declined from 79 percent to 66 percent. Only 23 percent of Austrian respondents rated public digital services better than private offerings. Regarding Artificial Intelligence, 70 percent of Austrians maintain a neutral to positive attitude, accepting its use for simple tasks. However, 65 percent demand human oversight for complex decisions involving AI technology.
