313 Apply for New Partial Pension in First Half

Since its January launch, 313 people have applied for Austria's partial pension, allowing reduced work while receiving pension benefits.

The partial pension, introduced at the start of the year, allows individuals who meet old-age pension requirements to continue working at a reduced capacity in agreement with their employer. In the first half of the year, 313 applications were filed, with 289 submitted to the Pension Insurance Institution (PVA), 19 to the Social Insurance for the Self-Employed (SVS), and five to the Insurance Institution for Public Servants, Railways, and Mining (BVAEB). The PVA has granted 118 cases so far. Of the PVA applicants, 227 were men and 62 were women, with nearly all women qualifying for a regular old-age pension. Application types included 104 for long-term insured status, 71 for corridor pensions, 25 for heavy labor pensions, and 89 for regular pensions. The Ministry of Social Affairs plans to increase information efforts but has not provided a budget impact assessment.
