FPÖ Carinthia Expels Youth Leader Viktor Erdesz
The FPÖ Carinthia unanimously expelled Freedom Youth chairman Viktor Erdesz following allegations of radicalism and loss of trust.
On Thursday, July 23, 2026, the FPÖ Carinthia unanimously expelled Viktor Erdesz, the state chairman of the Freedom Youth. The decision followed a July 17 meeting after the party determined the basis of trust was no longer present. Erdesz faced criticism for distributing a Wehrmacht photo and maintaining close contacts with the Identitarian Movement. Previously, five members resigned from the Freedom Youth in protest of his leadership, describing his views as too radical and German-nationalist. Although the FPÖ Carinthia initially found no grounds for exclusion due to a lack of criminally relevant allegations, the party ultimately moved forward with the expulsion.
