Vienna Tourism Hits 9.3 Million Stays in H1 2026

Vienna recorded 9.3 million overnight stays in the first half of 2026, a four percent increase led by German and domestic travelers.

Vienna Tourism reported 9.3 million guest overnight stays during the first half of 2026, marking a four percent increase over the previous year. Germany remained the top market for stays, followed by Austria, the USA, Italy, Great Britain, and France. Between January and May 2026, accommodation providers generated 502.74 million euros in turnover, a one percent rise, with May alone contributing 150.6 million euros—a seven percent jump from May 2025. According to data from City Councilor Barbara Novak and Vienna Tourism head Norbert Kettner, the city’s hotel capacity grew by 2,200 beds to reach 84,200. During this period, the average hotel room occupancy rate stood at approximately 64 percent, while the bed occupancy rate was nearly 50 percent.
