Investigation files from security authorities document significant ties between the FPÖ leadership and the Identitarian Movement (IB) between 2018 and 2019. Martin Sellner, who co-founded the IB in 2012 and has past associations with neo-Nazi Gottfried Küssel, exchanged messages with high-ranking officials including Johann Gudenus and Reinhard Teufel. In 2018, Sellner sent a voice message to Graz city councilor Heinrich Sickl, the IB's landlord, threatening to form a separate party unless the FPÖ supported an IB petition. Documents show the IB received advance notice of the government's decision to reject the UN Migration Pact. While Norbert Hofer expressed concern about the IB in 2016, current FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl described the group as a 'support-worthy NGO' in 2021. Further links include Sellner's associate Fabian R. working for an FPÖ parliamentarian and former Strache spokesperson Konrad Weiss exchanging information with Sellner. These revelations follow past controversies, including Sellner's 1,500-euro donation from the Christchurch attacker and legal proceedings in Graz regarding the formation of a criminal organization.
