Wiener Neustadt Sells 115 Municipal Units
Non-profits Wien-Süd and Familienwohnbau Niederösterreich acquire 115 housing units in Wiener Neustadt as part of a city reorganization.
The city of Wiener Neustadt has finalized the first contracts for the partial sale of its municipal housing stock, with non-profit companies Wien-Süd and Familienwohnbau Niederösterreich set to take over 115 units on August 1, 2026. Wien-Süd will acquire properties at Neunkirchner Straße 72, Pottendorfer Straße 42, and Walthergasse 17, while Familienwohnbau Niederösterreich will own units at Adlergasse 3, Bräunlichgasse 6a and 8, Grazer Straße 96a/Keßlergasse 7, and Kollonitschgasse 12. While the purchase price remains confidential until autumn 2026, the sale aims to address high vacancy rates that caused millions in losses. Tenants will face no contractual changes. This move follows an October 2025 reorganization plan where 1,646 of 2,256 units were put up for sale via IFP GmbH, a Stadtholding subsidiary. The city expects annual savings of 2.5 million euros starting in 2027.
