Austria's Schulstartklar! Aids 48,000 Students
The Schulstartklar! campaign provides 150-euro vouchers for school supplies to 48,000 children in low-income households across Austria.
Social Minister Korinna Schumann (SPÖ) and Volkshilfe Federal Managing Director Erich Fenninger have detailed the 2025 Schulstartklar! campaign, which supports 48,000 children from households receiving social assistance or minimum income. Eligible students receive a 150-euro voucher for school supplies, a project implemented by Volkshilfe. The Social Ministry has provided school start support since 2015, with the voucher system launching in 2022. For 2025, the project has been digitized, requiring the 'Schulstart' app—available on the App Store and Google Play—for payment processing. The campaign operates with a total budget of 18.6 million euros and receives partial funding from the European Social Fund Plus.
